If you’re heading to Michigan this summer you just might have to make a side trip to Waterloo Recreation Area. The place looks fantastic. There are year-round exhibits at the park, but to really enjoy the water you have to go during the summer. In my opinion that is.
There is plenty to see and do at the park. For starters, there is a visitors center with exhibits for all ages.
There is hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing, playgrounds, swimming, picnic areas, hiking and bridle trails. There is also mountain bike trails, a snowmobile area and boating access.
There is also no alcohol allowed in the day use areas from April 1 through Labor Day.
There are plenty of campgrounds in the area to choose from. There are at least 5 campgrounds and 1 site with rustic cabins. The sites run between $12 to $24 with the cabins running at $60/$80.
Best months to visit for weather: The park is open year round but since I’m a warm weather kind of a girl I prefer the summer, especially since I’m freezing right now.
